The Seipt family business includes Fred and Joanne Seipt and their 3 sons, Vernon, Matt, and Bill.
Freddy Hill Farms began as a dairy store in 1972. The milk produced from 100 dairy cows is processed
and packaged right on the farm, and then sold in the dairy store. To complement the dairy sales,
dipped ice cream is also offered to customers.
After learning how to make their own ice cream at
Penn State Universitys creamery, the Seipts expanded their ice cream offerings and began making
ice cream cakes. The ice cream sales soon outgrew the small space and a full, sit down ice cream
parlor was built in 1988. The partners wives, Nancy and Lesa Seipt became involved in the business
at that time giving farm tours to school age children every spring. The Seipts wanted the public
to know that they sold quality milk and give them some education about the farm and its workings.
This tour program soon expanded to include Pumpkin Patch Tours in October, where children and
parents can take a hayride, pick a pumpkin, go thru a cornstalk maze, and eat some homemade ice cream.
Thousands of people enjoy these tours every October, or come on the weekends for Freddys Fallfest to
enjoy those activities, plus pig races and other entertainment.
The Seipts learned from these October
events that they were capable of entertaining large numbers of people on the farm, and the idea for a
real entertainment complex was born. In 1991, the family opened Freddys Family Fun Center. This
beautiful complex includes 2 miniature golf courses, batting cages, a driving range, and a snack bar.
Just a short walk up a sidewalk takes customers to a farm zoo which includes calves, pigs, sheep,
goats, elk deer, and a buffalo!
Customers usually end their visit with a taste of one the 32 flavors
of homemade ice cream in a homemade waffle cone. The fun center has grown over the past 14 years to
include a covered and heated driving range with an expanded tee line, a on site golf professional,
a comfortable party pavilion, and in 2005, a newly redesigned miniature golf course, The Waterfront Adventure.
The Seipts continue to operate a very busy dairy farm, milking 100 cows twice a day, and growing and
harvesting crops on their home farm of 160 acres plus many surrounding rented acres.
Curious visitors
can observe the cow milking daily from 4-6 pm on a raised observation deck in the milking parlor.
When you visit Freddy Hill Farms and Freddys Family Fun Center you can spend a day with your family
working on your golf game, playing miniature golf enjoying the view of farm fields while trying to
sink that colored ball into the next hole, hitting a few baseballs, celebrating a birthday or corporate
employee day, taking a stroll through the farm zoo, enjoying a double dip of award winning ice cream, and much more.
Freddy Hill Farms is a place the Seipt family calls home. We want to be YOUR FAMILY FARM AND FUN CENTER!!
